UK Representatives Arrive in Kenya: A New Chapter Begins

2–3 minutes

We are delighted to share the latest update in our mission to bring clean water to Kenyan villages! Two of our UK-based representatives, James and Marijah, have flown to Kenya for a fortnight to kickstart crucial next steps in our project. Their arrival marks an exciting phase of collaboration, community engagement, and tangible progress on the ground.

Breaking Ground: The First Borehole and Water Tower

James is working closely with a team of commercial water borehole experts to deliver our very first borehole and water tower. This prototype will serve as a blueprint for future installations, holding up to 10,000 litres of fresh water and utilising mains electricity for efficient and reliable operation. The borehole represents more than just a source of clean water—it symbolises hope and resilience for the village residents who will soon have access to this life-changing resource.

Empowering Local Voices: Marijah’s Mission

While James focuses on the infrastructure, Marijah is dedicating her time to working with local women to address daily challenges and explore how they can benefit from a consistent, fresh water supply. Through open discussions and collaborative problem-solving, Marijah aims to empower these women to take an active role in shaping solutions that will transform their lives. From easing the burden of fetching water over long distances to unlocking opportunities for health, education, and entrepreneurship, these conversations are paving the way for meaningful change.

Bridging the Digital Divide

In addition to his work on the borehole, James has brought along several laptops to support the establishment of a local internet café and provide tools for the Kenyan team. This initiative will enhance connectivity, facilitate communication, and open new educational and economic opportunities for the community.

Looking Ahead

Over the next two weeks, James and Marijah will continue their vital work in collaboration with village residents, local professionals, and the wider Water for the World team. Their efforts will not only lay the groundwork for our first prototype but also deepen relationships with the communities we aim to serve.

We’ll be sharing updates on their progress, and we invite you to follow along as we take these exciting steps forward. Together, we can turn the dream of clean water into a reality for villages across Kenya.
